After a year and a half of the start of the pandemic, the cases and the number of deaths from COVID-19 have decreased. However, the health authorities put us on alert. The Health Ministry projects that the country may face a third wave in mid-October. Therefore, to be attentive to the scenario that we face today, Cleveland Clinic-UTEC Summit -event organized by the University of Engineering and Technology (UTEC) and Cleveland Clinic- will reveal the latest medical advances to solve this situation that worries the whole world.

“The pandemic has made us realize even more the importance of research to find accessible solutions for the various markets, with which we can not only help COVID-19 patients, but also create technology that is effective against future viruses. This will allow us to prepare ourselves to improve the quality of life of more people ”, explained Julio Valdivia, director of Bioengineering at UTEC.

The academic event, which also commemorates the 100-year anniversary of the Cleveland Clinic – the number one institution in cardiology and urology in the United States, according to the News & World Report rating – will touch on revolutionary topics such as ultraviolet decontamination projects for combat shortages of personal protective equipment, engineered solutions for mechanical ventilation during overvoltage conditions, COVID-19 risk prediction tools and data log analysis, treatment of mechanically ventilated patients to inactivate SARS-CoV- 2, among others.
