Andres is a mechanical engineer and Master in Biomedical Engineering from the National University of Colombia (Bogotá, Colombia), Specialist in Bioengineering from the Francisco José de Caldas District University (Bogotá, Colombia), and Doctor in Biomedical Engineering from the Eindhoven University of Technology ( TU/e, Eindhoven, The Netherlands). Among his topics of interest are Biomechanics, computational modeling and analysis by (micro) finite elements. Among the research projects that Andrés has carried out are: the estimation of the mechanical properties of computational models of bone tissue, the simulation of the process of osteogenesis and healing of bone fractures, and the experimental and computational estimation of mechanical properties in bone tissue. intact and fractured. Currently his new interests are around biomaterials, additive manufacturing and tissue engineering.

3D Bio-printing: 3D bioprinting or biofabrication is a technique inspired by the practice of additive manufacturing brought to the biological and medical field. This theoretical-practical course intends to present the main characteristics of this manufacturing technique whose growing practice has reached diverse areas of application, including the conception of tissues and organs to be potentially implanted in living beings.

Advanced Biomaterials and Materials Modeling: This theoretical course is designed for Bioengineering students to deepen their knowledge of biomaterials and learn about recent research and developments in the use of biomaterials for made up of new materials that, together, group the properties of their components to be used in clinical applications. Likewise, this course deepens the knowledge about the phenomena observed in the biomaterial-tissue interface (biomaterial-cell) and the different treatments and strategies used to facilitate their synergy.
