We congratulate Evely Blas from Bioengineering, who participated in the iGEM Design League competition in Mexico City, representing her team as leader of the area of Mathematical Modeling, with an innovative synthetic biology project that focuses on improving the resilience of cocoa plantations by manufacturing a biostimulant.

The event covered two days of intensive academic activities. The first day each team presented their project in the auditorium “Dr. Guillermo Soberón Acevedo” of the Institute of Genomic Medicine of Mexico City, sharing the stage with other innovative teams, in addition; attended workshops in computational biology and mathematical modeling, led by researchers from the institute who enriched the understanding and applicability of the project. On the second day, he participated in the presentation of posters, which was a valuable experience to discuss the project with other participants and learn from the initiatives of other teams, in addition to a guided tour of the institute. Evely says: “These interactions not only provided me with learning opportunities but also possibilities for future collaboration”.
